Why I’m Testing Xero and QuickBooks Side-by-Side
Over the past few years, I’ve heard more and more business owners express frustration with QuickBooks Online. The constant price hikes, limited support, and features that feel like they should work… but don’t… have led a lot of solopreneurs to ask: Is there anything better out there?
I’ve wondered the same.

I’ve used QuickBooks for nearly two decades and worked inside QBO since 2011. It’s been the industry standard for so long, it’s easy to forget there are other options. But as someone who advises small business owners every day, I don’t want to stick with a tool just because it’s what I’ve always used.
So this summer, I’m testing something new.
Starting July 1, I’m running a six-month parallel test of my own books in both QuickBooks and Xero. I’ll be tracking the pros, the cons, and the little things that either make my life easier (or drive me up a wall)!
This is hands-on research, and I’m doing it so I can offer my clients better insight when it’s time for them to choose the right tool for their business. Most of the business owners I work with are solopreneurs. They are people who don’t have time to waste on clunky systems or tools that don’t match the way they work.
I earned my Xero certification this year and will be logging my own experience over the next six months. It won’t be scientific, but it will be real.
If you’ve ever wondered whether QBO is the only way… or the best way… stay tuned!
